Titan Swim Teams Split DePauw, Franklin Triangular

GREENCASTLE, Ind. - The Illinois Wesleyan men's and women's swim teams split at a triangular meet in Greencastle, Ind., on Saturday, Jan. 23.

The Titan women lost to DePauw by a 180-103 margin and defeated Franklin, 221-22, while the IWU men lost to DePauw by a 191-85.5 score and downed Franklin, 163-37.

Sophomore Angela Lugg and freshman Katie McHugh were double individual winners for Illinois Wesleyan. Lugg won the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:59.60 and took the 500 freestyle in a time of 5:23.66. McHugh won the 100 butterfly in 1:01.07 and the 200 butterfly in 2:13.28.

Sophomore Andrea Peterson won the 100 backstroke (1:00.48) and joned McHugh, freshman Chelsea Werries and freshman Melissa Graffy to win the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:54.37

Senior Michael Kozak and sophomore Mike Firth each won a pair of events for the Titan men.

Kozak took the 200 freestyle (1:47.74) and the 100 butterfly (52.92 seconds) while Firth won the 100 backstroke (53.48 seconds) and 200 backstroke (1:56.68).

Senior Chris Betzle won the 500 freestyle with a swim of 4:56.11.
