BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Freshman forward
Emily Hinchman and junior midfielder
Tori Samson were chosen as the "Most Valuable Players" on offense and defense, respectively, for the 2009 Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team.
Hinchman led the Titans with 10 goals, eight assists and 28 points. Samson had four goals with two assists for 10 points.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Haley Hergert was the winner of the team's "Most Improved Player honor and juniors
Alyssa Feulner and
Rachel Pennington were selected to serve as 2010 team captains.
Hergert was 5-0 with three shutouts and had a 0.48 goals-against average.
The Titans finished with a 16-4-3 record and a second straight appearance in the NCAA Division III tournament.
Hinchman (first team) and Samson (second team) were among four Titans elected to the all-Central Region team picked by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Junior goalkeeper
