Sexauer and Solari CCIW "Players of the Week"

Illinois Wesleyan junior forward Doug Sexauer and senior center Christina Solari have been named "Players of the Week" for men's and women's basketball in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin for the week ending January 10.

Sexauer missed only two shots from the field last week in leading Illinois Wesleyan to two league victories. Sexauer was 11-of-12 from the field and scored 23 points with four rebounds and two assists in the Titans' 84-79 win at North Central on Jan. 6.
In the Titans' 79-69 win at home against Carthage on Jan. 9, Sexauer was 10-of-11 from the field and scored 24 points with seven rebounds.
For the week he was 21-of-23 (.913) from the floor and averaged 23.5 points and 5.5 rebounds as Illinois Wesleyan's win streak went to six games.
A finance major at IWU, Sexauer is a product of Lockport Township High School and is the son of Robert and MaryJo Sexauer of Homer Glen, Ill.

This is the second time this season and the fifth time in her career for Solari to win the conference's weekly honor. Last week, Solari averaged 11.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists in two Titan wins. She scored 11 points with three rebounds and eight assists in a 77-63 win at North Central on Jan. 5.
In a 76-48 win at home against No. 8-ranked Carthage on Jan. 9, Solari grabbed 17 rebounds and scored 12 points with four assists and three steals. She was four-of-five from the field against the Lady Reds and shot .727 from the field between the two games (eight-of-11).
A political science major and product of Maine South High School, Solari is the daughter of John and Sandy Solari of Park Ridge, Ill.

Solari shared the CCIW women's honor with Elmhurst senior forward Lyndsie Long, who helped the Bluejays to a pair of wins. She had a game-high eight points and eight rebounds with three assists and two steals in a 56-47 win over Millikin on Jan. 5. On Jan. 9, Long scored 19 points and got a game-high nine boards in the Bluejays' 18-point win over Augustana. Long also moved into fourth place on Elmhurst's all-time scoring list with 1,496 career points.
