Four Titans Earn CCIW Weekly Honors

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Four Illinois Wesleyan athletes have been honored as "Performers of the Week" in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin for their respective sports.

Illinois Wesleyan's Kerry Devitt (women's cross country), Lori Johnson (volleyball), Lindsey Haines (women's golf) and Alli Novak (women's soccer) were all honored by the CCIW on Tuesday, Sept. 15.

Devitt, a senior from Tower Lakes, Ill. (Carmel Catholic High School) finished third in the College Division at the Bradley Invitational on Friday, Sept. 11. Devitt ran a PR time of 18:28 in the 5K. The Titan women finished first as a team in the College Division.

Johnson, a junior middle hitter from Bloomington, Ill. (Normal Community High School) was named to the Illinois Wesleyan Barker Chevrolet Classic I All-Tournament Team as the Titans won all four matches in the tournament and were 5-0 on the week. Johnson averaged 3.15 kills per game and had a .387 hitting percentage. Johnson also finished with a team-high 13 blocks over the five matches last week.

Haines, a senior from Crete, Ill. (Marian Catholic High School) won a scorecard playoff with a two-over par (74) score to earn the individual title at the 18-team Illinois College Invitational Sept. 5-6.

Novak, a junior goalkeeper from Naperville, Ill. (North High School) made three saves in each of the Titans' wins this past week. Novak shut out Wisconsin-Whitewater 1-0 on September 10, the 19th shutout of her career. She also led Illinois Wesleyan to a 3-1 win over then 15th-ranked Chicago on Sept. 12.
