VIENNA, Austria - The Illinois Wesleyan football team exploded for 28 first quarter points en route to a 64-14 win over the Vienna Vikings in the Pfizer Charity Bowl XI in Vienna on Monday, June 1.

The Titans amassed 438 total yards (223 rushing and 215 passing) in the win and were stingy on defense, on the field for only 19 defensive plays and allowing just two first downs in the first half. The Titans forced four first half turnovers and one more in the second half while committing only one on an interception.

"It was a good game for us," said head coach Norm Eash. "We came out and made some big plays and were dominating defensively. We had balanced scoring and production on offense and it is a great thing to find out a lot about our program, having veterans respond and being able to see how some of the young players react in a game situation."

Kraig Ladd completed 12 of 13 passes for 145 yards and two touchdowns and Brien Rooney connected on 4 of 11 passes for 70 yards and two TDs while also running for 71 yards on eight carries with a score.

Jack Scalcucci proved to be a popular target, making five catches for 62 yards and two TDs while Joseph Driver had four grabs for 95 yards and also had two touchdowns.

Travis Brubaker led IWU with 72 rushing yards on 10 carries with a touchdown and Matt Berg added 60 yards on four carries with a TD.

The game, which was seen by 4,500 fans and raised approximately $15,000 for charity, was the fourth international win for an Eash-coached team. IWU previously won in Germany (1997), Italy (2001) and France (2005). The Titans' European trip continues until Friday, June 5, in Prague, Czech Republic (shown above).
