KENOSHA, Wis. - In the continuation of a game suspended by darkness a day before, an 8-3 loss to Wheaton on May 9 sent Illinois Wesleyan out of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin baseball tournament at Kenosha, Wis.

Carthage (32-6), ranked No. 7 in the May 5 “D3baseball.com” poll, won the CCIW tourney with a 12-3 win over Wheaton (23-19).

The Titans (24-16) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Brett Moore walked and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Mike Morrissey before Kraig Ladd homered down the leftfield line.

The Thunder came right back to tie the game in the first and took a 5-2 lead into the suspended game.

In its first inning on Saturday, the top of the sixth, the Titans mounted a threat but did not score. Kevin Goshorn doubled to center field and Casey McIntosh singled to left, sending Goshorn to third. Jeff Grodecki walked to load the bases before Bob Huppert flied out to right and Mark McDermott grounded into a 6-4-3 double play.

Morrissey collected three of IWU's nine hits while McIntosh added two. Sterter Goshorn was the losing pitcher, allowing three runs on six hits with a walk in 1 1/3 innings.
