BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Junior shortstop Allison Ward had two hits and three runs batted in and junior Christy Engel pitched a two-hitter as Illinois Wesleyan downed Alma, 6-3, in the NCAA softball regional on May 8.

The Titans (36-4) will play on Saturday, May 9, at 2 p.m. against the winner of the first game of that day featuring Wisconsin-Eau Claire (28-15) and Wisconsin-Whitewater (37-6).

The Titans jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Senior centerfielder Monica Urban doubled and junior second baseman Lisa Narotsky reached on an error on a sacrifice bunt. Ward then singled to left to knock in Urban. Senior Val Hackett reached on a fielder's choice, scoring Narotsky and sophomore first baseman Kris Lee doubled home Hackett.

IWU got two more runs in the fifth when Engel singled to left center and went to second on an Urban sacrifice. Narotsky singled and advanced to second on the throw with Engel moving to third. Ward then doubled home two runs before being thrown out at third.

Engel improved to 21-3 with a two-hitter, striking out six.
