Four IWU Players Earn all-Region Honors

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - - Four members of the Illinois Wesleyan University baseball team have earned all-Central region honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association.

Junior second baseman Brett Moore was a first team honoree while junior outfielder Kraig Ladd got second team honors. Senior designated hitter Kevin Goshorn and junior outfielder Mike Morrissey were selected to the third team.

Moore (Bloomington HS), who was the Titans’ “Most Valuable Player” and earned the team’s “Best Defensive Player” honor, was a first team College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin selection. He was second on the team with a .383 batting average and had 11 doubles, two home runs and a team-leading three triples. His team-best 64 hits is the seventh best in an Illinois Wesleyan single season.
Moore committed only four errors in 194 chances for a .979 fielding percentage.

Ladd (Shelbyville HS), who was a first team ABCA/Rawlings all=region player in 2008, batted .340 with 10 doubles, 38 runs batted in and a team-high nine homers.

Goshorn (New Lenox, Lincoln Way Central HS), also a third team all-region selection in 2008, batted .376 with team high totals of 12 doubles and 39 runs batted in while also collecting eight home runs.

Morrissey (River Forest, Oak Park River Forest HS) led IWU with a .394 batting mark, the 18th best in an IWU single season. He had seven doubles, two home runs and drove home 23 runs. He also provided nine sacrifce bunts, third most in a Titan season.

The Titans finished with a 24-16 overall mark and were 14-7 in the CCIW.

Amanda LaRocca amassed 24.5 points in the 2010 NCAA Division III outdoor track championships, which would have put her in 10th place among the 77 competing teams in the meet, which was won by IWU.
