Illinois Wesleyan had five players earn honors on the 2009 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III All-Region softball team. Junior pitcher #

Monica Urban# and senior utility player #Val Hackett# all were first team honorees.

Kris Lee# (Napervile, Ill./North) was named to the second team and the third team included all at-large selections featuring junior shortstop #
Allison Ward# (Bloomington, Ill./Normal Community).
Engel (St. Charles, Ill./North), who was the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin "Pitcher of the Year" for the second straight season, set school season records in 2009 for wins (22-5), innings pitched (180 2/3), strikeouts (198), lowest earned run average (0.93) and lowest opponent batting average (.150).
For her career with one season to play she is the school's all-time leader in strikeouts (429), shutouts (14) and earned run average (1.32) and is second in wins (48), trailing only Kelly Murray (55-18 from 2001-04).
Hackett (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way Central) batted .292 with eight doubles, six home runs and 40 runs batted in. As a pitcher she was 11-1 with a 1.68 earned run average and struck out 101 in 95 2/3 innings.
She is the IWU career leader with 21 home runs and is fifth with 103 runs batted in.
Urban (Wheaton, Ill./North), the CCIW co-"Player of the Year", batted .383 with five doubles, three triples and a homer. She stole 27 bases and finished her career as the all-time leader in steals with 94 and batting average at .412.
Lee led the 37-6 Titans with a .386 average and collected four home runs, 10 doubles and batted home 32 runs. She had a team-high .553 slugging percentage.
Ward batted .357 with 11 doubles, five homers and 36 RBI.
