The Most Popular Softball Colleges
Illinois Wesleyan University has been selected as the fourth “hottest” Division III school in the country to attend for softball, according to research compiled by CaptainU.
The data took into account popularity, competitiveness and academic quality in determining 10 top schools in each of three NCAA divisions.
“Tens of thousands of softball players on CaptainU told us which schools they're crazy about … Some are traditional powerhouses, while others are just starting to make their mark -- but they all give their players the experience of a lifetime.”
The web site writes about Illinois Wesleyan: “With a 30-11 overall record, a 12-2 performance in their conference and a senior elected to ESPN Magazine's second Academic All-American team [Monica Urban], the Titans are living up their name. They're supported by awesome facilities, and led by a coaching staff that earned no less than Coaching Staff of the Year for the Great Lakes division.”
LaVerne (Calif.), Wisconsin-Whitewater and Messiah were ranked ahead of Illinois Wesleyan. DePaul was the top Division I selection and California-San Diego led the Division II schools.
