OSHKOSH, Wis.- The Illinois Wesleyan women's cross country team placed eighth and the men were 12th at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional at Lake Breeze Golf Course in Winneconne, Wis., on Nov. 14.
The Titan women amassed 263 points as first place went, for the second straight year, to Wisconsin-Eau Claire with 52 points. IWU's
Kerry Devitt and
Liz Ave Maria earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association all-region honors for their top 35 finishes - Devitt was ninth in the 6,000 meter race with a time of 21:46 and Ave Maria was 22nd with her run of 22:26.
Elise Anderson finished 61st at 23:18 and senior
Katelyn Draths was 71st with her time of 23:28.
Ayla Mitchell of Wisconsin-Oshkosh claimed her second straight regional title with a time of 20:51.
The IWU men scored 367 points as first place went, for the second straight year (and for the 22nd time overall), to North Central with a mere 21 points. IWU's
Wally Farris was the team's low finisher, coming in 39th with a time of 25:26 on the 8,000 meter course.
Max Lustick placed 76th with a time of 26:12.
Michael Spain of North Central was the individual winner with a time of 24:17 as the Cardinals finihsed first, second and fifth among the top five.
