For the second time this season, Illinois Wesleyan senior linebacker
Nick Nikolich has been named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin "Defensive Football Player of the Week" on Oct. 19.
Nikolich (Libertyville, Ill., HS) led Illinois Wesleyan to a 7-0 win over Augustana on Oct. 17 with eight total tackles including a 15-yard quarterback sack in the second quarter. He was part of a defense that held Augustana to only 29 yards and two first downs in the first half. For the game, the Vikings were held to 135 yards of total offense, 105 on the ground and 30 through the air.
A finance major, he is the son of Luka and Marina Nikolich of Libertyville.
Elmhurst freshman Scottie Williams and North Central freshman Nick Kukuc were the CCIW offensive and special teams honorees for the week, respectively.
Williams totaled 200 yards and three touchdowns in Elmhurst's 47-10 victory over North Park on Saturday. He finished with 14 carries for 155 yards (11.1 yard average) and two rushing touchdowns, and also caught three passes for 45 yards and a 26-yard touchdown catch. Williams helped the Bluejays roll up 568 yards of total offense (the third highest single-game total in Elmhurst history) and 368 rushing yards (the fourth highest single-game total).
Kukuc returned five kickoffs for 178 yards, including a 46-yard return, and recovered a block punt for a touchdown in North Central's 63-48 victory over Carthage on Saturday.
