The Illinois Wesleyan men's tennis team begins its 2009 spring campaign with a 2 p.m. match on February 21 at St. Francis in Joliet, Ill. Wesleyan will again play opponents in Florida March 14-21 and the Titans' first home matches are April 4 with Monmouth at 9 a.m. and Elmhurst at 3 p.m.
As a team, Wesleyan finished 2008 with a 7-15 dual match record, was 2-3 in the CCIW regular season and finished fourth in the CCIW tournament.
Leading the returning players for IWU are seniors
Dan Chang and
Paul Oehrlein, who were both chosen to the second team of the all-conference men's tennis squads in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.
Chang, who was a first team all-CCIW player in 2007 and a second team all-CCIW selection in 2006, finished with a record of 14-12 (11-11 at No. 1 singles) and
Paul Oehrlein was 12-13 overall (11-11 at No. 2 singles). The pair had a 9-12 mark at No. 1 doubles.
